Overview
- The mood monitor is a tool within most SilverCloud programs.
- It can be used to track moods during the day and identify anything that may be influencing them.
- We have spent some time reviewing this tool and are now releasing a new version.
Why change it?
- The tool was designed a number of years ago when most people used laptops and desktops to access SilverCloud.
- Now the majority of people using SilverCloud access it through a mobile device, where the smaller screens made it difficult to use the tool and view the entries.
- We wanted to make the mood monitor simple and straight forward for people to use, particularly on a mobile device.
What has changed?
- There is now only one version of the tool within the programs.
- A new calendar replaces the old chart view and we have redesigned the way entries are made.
- "Lifestyle choices" have now become "influences" and have been simplified following user feedback. They now appear only in one place (within the mood tracking) and there is no longer the option to record quantity or quality.
How does this affect existing entries?
- All existing entries will still be visible in the new version.
- If lifestyle choices were tracked per day rather than attached to a mood, then they will be displayed slightly differently . Quantity/quality comes after the influence icon (see below).
Clinical Objectives of the Mood Monitor
- Primary: The Mood Monitor should help users to initiate the practice of observing mood and notice fluctuations throughout the day/week.
- Secondary: The Mood Monitor should help users to link feeling better/worse with internal/external factors and learn to observe and track mood in the moment, rather than retroactively.
